Senior Asset Recovery Manager Job Description Overview
AJ Networx is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Asset Recovery Manager to oversee the complete lifecycle of telecommunications assets, focusing specifically on maximizing value recovery and ensuring environmental compliance during the disposition phase. This role is critical in minimizing financial loss on retired equipment and maintaining supply chain integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Value Maximisation
Develop and execute a comprehensive Asset Recovery and Disposition (ARD) strategy aligned with financial targets and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
- Maximize the recovery value of surplus, obsolete, or returned telecommunications equipment (e.g., cell site infrastructure, network hardware, customer premises equipment, optical fiber gear).
- Establish and manage channels for resale, refurbishment, and recycling, including negotiating contracts with third-party asset disposition vendors, recyclers, and remarketing partners.
Provide financial forecasting and reporting related to asset depreciation, recovered value, and ARD operational costs.
Operational Management and Logistics
Manage the end-to-end Reverse Logistics process from asset decommissioning at sites to secure transportation, processing, and final disposition.
- Oversee the physical inventory and tracking of all retired assets, ensuring accuracy in the Asset Management System (AMS) and proper categorization (e.g., salvage, scrap, refurbishment).
- Ensure the secure erasure and destruction of data residing on all retired hardware (e.g., hard drives, servers, network switches) in compliance with data protection regulations.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for handling high-value components, hazardous materials, and sensitive equipment.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure all asset disposition activities comply with relevant local, national, and international environmental regulations, including WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives.
- Manage contractual compliance and performance of all third-party vendors involved in the asset recovery chain.
Stay current on market trends, technology obsolescence cycles, and changes in environmental legislation impacting telecom hardware.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with common telecommunications equipment and infrastructure (e.g., routers, switches, servers, base stations, antennas) and their respective lifecycles.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., e-waste, hazardous material handling) and data security requirements (e.g., GDPR, data sanitisation standards).
- Systems Proficiency: Expertise in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and dedicated Asset Management Systems (AMS).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
