Summary
We are seeking a Transport Manager to join our dynamic team at J&B Recycling Ltd. You would report to the Head of Transportation and be responsible for Drivers, fleet and collection vehicles.
You will be responsible for the health and safety of staff, contractors to site and visitors to site, the minimisation of impact to the environment whilst working within the site, delivering customer expectations in terms of service and product quality, and operating site in an efficient and effective manner in line with the annual budget.
Have strong customer facing skills to build and grow relationship with new customer. Effective driver management, strong people management skills, commercially minded individual to achieve targeted cost savings. Experience of managing fleets and drive bases in multi-site logistics operations is essential
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all transport operations to ensure timely delivery of services.
- Ensure transport resources run effectively and efficiently operating with various types of vehicles and trailers.
- Vehicle compliance of 20 HGV vehicles, 5 trailers and drivers throughout the company. Planning and routing of trucks to meet overall haulage requirements.
- Using/Inputting information into a management system to create, plan and confirm jobs.
- Leading the transport and customer service team to provide high levels of service to our customers.
- Carry out accident and incident investigations as and when required.
- Understand and implement the company SHEQ Policy.
- Ensure all employees and sub-contractors are suitably trained/competent to carry out the prescribed task and that the necessary licenses/certificates of competence are in force and appropriate.
- Conduct Risk Assessments on activities within their department ensuring that the methods and systems of work are safe. Also that the necessary procedures, rules and regulations designed to achieve this are applied.

Requirements
- Proven experience in transport management or logistics roles.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
- Calm under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Computer literate with proficiency in relevant software applications.
- HGV Class C or CE with valid CPC would be required.
- Transport Manager CPC and valid driving licence essential
Working hours are Monday to Friday either 06:30 - 15:30 or 08:00-17:00 with occasional out of hours calls if required.
