Job Description

  • Job Title – Corporate Finance Associate Director/Director - we are open to recruiting an existing Director or an experienced Associate Director with near-term promotion aspirations
  • Location - Bristol
  • Job Type - Permanent – Full Time

Role overview

Client Work

  • Working closely with a Partner, lead the execution of transactions on a day-to-day basis, acting as key point of client contact and focusing on driving the transaction timetable
  • Review work of junior team members, in conjunction with Manager review where relevant, and providing guidance and close supervision in more complex areas or where team is less experienced
  • Forming a view on and leading/supporting on areas of commercial negotiation and areas requiring experience such as SPA, deal structure, Locked Box etc
  • Preparing, providing leadership to junior team members and/or reviewing all key documents (business plans, information memorandum, Heads of Terms and financial forecasts) and having significant input into deal strategy and tactics with a Partner, based on a deep understanding of the strategic rationale
  • Building a rapport with clients, understanding their business and support in designing project plans aimed at achieving their ambitions and expectations
  • Coordinating the research of potential buyers and involvement in approaching potential buyers and managing the exchange of information
  • Detailed understanding of the commercial deal structure and funds flows

Business Development

  • Actively develop and cultivate your own network of professionals and corporates with a view to generating leads and potential client work, increasingly demonstrating origination capabilities
  • Lead production of pitches and presentations to potential clients, including forming view on deal strategy, process recommendations, valuation conclusions and an assessment of the most likely potential buyers/targets
  • Take responsibility for agreed areas of origination and business development

Team Management

  • Take a leadership, strategic direction and management role within CF team
  • In conjunction with partners (where relevant), supervise and manage junior team members, including resource planning, performance management, training and recommendations for promotion
  • Act as a mentor to team members, modelling best behaviours for the CF environment and providing coaching to assist them in achieving their personal career goals
  • Actively identify opportunities for junior team members to develop skills and experience
  • Seek and action feedback from all levels

Risk & Quality

  • Act with integrity at all times and comply with all required internal and external risk management procedures
  • Ensure quality on all client deliverables
  • Awareness of and compliance with FCA Conduct rules
  • Compliance with FRP Fit & Proper Persons test
  • Ensure all appropriate take on and risk management processes, including AML, are followed on all client projects
  • Seek out training on specific areas where feel required to refresh knowledge

Qualifications

  • ACA / ACCA qualified, or equivalent

Experience

  • Strong transactional capability and thorough working knowledge of sell-side and buy-side corporate finance advisory activities, including MBO and PE
  • Commercial acumen to understand what contributes to a business' success and what makes it attractive to investors or buyers.
  • Have the ability to identify key targets for immediate M&A activity and an origination capability
  • Demonstrated team management experience

Skills

  • Track record of origination of deal opportunities and new relationships, leading to potential transactions through relationship building with third parties
  • Demonstrate confidence in client situations, gaining client acceptance and demonstrating value through advice and transaction insight
  • Sound commercial judgement and an ability to generate creative solutions to problems and well-practised at thinking clearly under pressure
  • Strong knowledge of Word and Powerpoint to assist with review work, as well as strong numerical, financial and modelling skills based on a well-developed understanding of financial statements
  • Proven ability to produce high quality professional documents for clients and internal use, including excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to identify problems and contribute to the development of solutions
  • Ability to work on a range of projects simultaneously to demanding timetables
