About the Role: Construction Buyer
As a Construction Buyer, you'll play a key role in our Procurement team, ensuring that high-quality materials and services are secured efficiently and within budget. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, supporting both our internal and client-focused work.
Role Responsibilities
- Procurement Management: Place purchase orders with approved suppliers, ensuring all transactions align with project budgets and specifications.
- Quote Sourcing: Obtain three quotes for all orders as standard; for orders over £500, use our Material Comparison Sheet and secure necessary approvals.
- Cost Efficiency: Identify cost-effective alternatives to material specifications, obtaining approval from the team and client representatives.
- Collaboration: Liaise with commercial and design teams regarding all project material matters, ensuring strong alignment on spend and value.
- Documentation: Maintain project Requisition Trackers, Procurement Schedules, and Brick & Block Delivery Schedules, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
- Project Meetings: Attend pre-start project meetings and site or office team meetings, reporting on all procurement aspects.
- Supplier Relations: Update and maintain our supplier database, building strong relationships with current and potential supply partners.
- End-of-Project Support: Assist with the preparation of O&M Manuals as each project concludes
Requirements
We're seeking a buyer in the construction sector.
- Experience: Minimum of two years' experience as a materials and plant buyer within construction.
- Technical Skills: Strong IT skills and experience with procurement and tracking software.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Relationship Building: Skilled at building positive relationships with internal teams and suppliers alike.
