Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an exceptional Life Science - Sector Leader to develop and lead the implementation of a sustainable growth strategy for the Life Sciences market; lead and manage client development and sales across the sector, in collaboration with other units to harness the full capabilities of the business.
Role accountabilities:
The individual in this role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive growth strategy tailored to the Industrial Manufacturing & Life Sciences sector, ensuring alignment with the established three-year sector plan. They will lead the annual business planning process for the sector, focusing on key metrics such as Net Order Intake, gross margin on sold work, weighted pipeline, and DRO, to ensure all targets are met or exceeded.
A critical aspect of the role is driving the growth of key, emerging, and target accounts, consistently meeting or surpassing revenue, bookings, and margin objectives. The individual will personally lead selected priority accounts, taking direct responsibility for fostering key client relationships and delivering business outcomes. Maintaining a deep knowledge of the life sciences market is essential, enabling the identification of trends and emerging opportunities both within existing client relationships and across the sector.
Building and leveraging a broad network of enduring relationships across the life sciences sector is vital, as this facilitates a strong understanding of client needs and positions Arcadis as a trusted partner. The role also involves promoting Arcadis's market awareness and thought leadership by engaging in conferences and external networking activities.
Managing pursuits is a core responsibility, including supporting bid/no-bid decisions with market knowledge, preparing proposals, and contributing to successful outcomes. Collaboration with Value Proposition Leaders is necessary to tailor Arcadis's capabilities into commercially viable solutions that demonstrate clear value for clients and enable the replication of success across multiple clients.
Internally, the individual will develop relationships throughout Arcadis to foster cross-functional cooperation and maximize opportunities to cross-sell and trade-up services. They will manage the sector pipeline, ensuring client development investments are strategically targeted and that pipeline data remains comprehensive and accurate for informed business planning.
This role defines and executes the sector plan, contributing to net revenue targets and driving consistent year-on-year growth. They are responsible for key and emerging accounts within the sector and work closely with the sector Business Director to ensure resource and capability development aligns with the overall growth strategy. Supporting the Business Director in maintaining market priorities within the business unit is also part of the remit.
Collaboration with teams from Architecture & Urbanism, Resilience, and Intelligence GBAs is essential to support joint growth initiatives. The individual may lead accounts for clients operating across multiple Arcadis lines of business and must be adept at managing executive-level relationships and a small account team.
Ensuring that the Market to Opportunity and Pursuit to Win processes are applied effectively, along with the successful handover of new opportunities through Deliver to Results, is key. The individual will also coach and mentor Account Leaders and junior talent to support succession planning. Their personal contribution will be measured by revenue secured directly and by their leading role in winning significant revenue opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Understanding of the life sciences market
- Track record of successful account leadership and sales including in the UK and international opportunities
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Relevant professional qualification or chartered status
