Salary - £43,000 - £51,000 (GBP)

This is a grant-funded role. The PRI intends to continue the position beyond this date, conditional on securing funding.

Job Description

The Senior Associate 2 year FTC role will report to the Head of Private Equity & Private Debt in PRI's Guidance team. The PRI has a highly regarded programme to help support signatories' incorporation of responsible investment in their investment processes. You will be joining the Guidance team that works with PRI's signatories, internal teams and other groups to deliver that programme, for example through the development of technical guides, products, tools, and content on topics such as climate change and human rights, webinars, and podcasts.

While there will be opportunities to experience and gain exposure to other teams and programmes within the PRI, this role is intended primarily to be working with investor signatories (both investment managers and asset owners) focused on private markets – private equity, private debt, real estate and infrastructure.

You will work closely with PRI colleagues focused on private markets and with investors and external advisors in delivering PRI's flagship and grant funded
Sustainability Value Creation for Private Markets
programme.

The successful candidate will have a flexible approach to tasks, be proactive, and possess excellent written and verbal communications skills. You will be working alongside internal and external topic experts, providing you with an excellent environment to grow professionally and be at the frontline of new industry developments.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, execution and delivery of the grant funded Sustainability Value Creation (SVC) Programme in Private Markets working closely with the Head of Private Equity and Private Debt for the same
  • Conduct research on range of topics relating to private markets asset classes (private equity – PE, private debt – PD, real estate – RE, and infrastructure – INF) and issue specific topics (across E – environmental, S – social, and G – governance) with a principal focus on how sustainability can drive value creation for investors
  • Support the planning and delivery of a range of content for signatories, including blogs, webinars, case studies and guidance documents
  • Work collaboratively with other colleagues in the private market asset class Guidance teams on delivery of the above programme
  • Engage and project manage external stakeholders, including consultants and investors supporting the PRI on delivery of the SVC programme
  • Support the Head of Private Equity and Private Debt in the delivery of the wider private equity and private markets work programmes insofar as they impact the SVC programme
  • Support the Director of Guidance in delivering against the team's business plan and budget
  • Provide regular reporting to the Director of Guidance and Chief Solutions & Technology Officer as required

Person Specification

  • Good knowledge of private markets in one or more asset classes (PE, PD, RE, INF) including an understanding of the private markets investment lifecycle and what happens at each stage
  • Demonstrable experience of responsible investment, of sustainability and governance factors and how they are incorporated in private markets investments to manage risks and opportunities
  • Desirable (but not a pre-requisite): previous private markets work experience either in investment firms, or with advisors – consultants, banks, service providers
  • Excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills to help support engagement with external stakeholders including investors and consultants
  • Proven ability to work independently and deliver projects with minimal guidance
  • Excellent understanding of risks involved in managing and delivering multi-stakeholder projects
  • Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills
  • Very good project and time management skills, with experience of delivering multi-stakeholder complex projects successfully, including directing others that may not be your direct reports
  • A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others and committed to fostering an inclusive working environment that supports the mission and aims of the PRI
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to developing others and a growth mindset, actively pursuing continuous professional and personal development and opportunities to drive improvements in ways of working
  • IT/Digital skills - proficient in the use of key Microsoft Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc
  • Language skills, other than English, are desirable but not a pre-requisite
