Night-Time Residential Support Worker
Dungiven, Northern Ireland | Full-Time (38 hrs/week) | £24,500–£26,500 (DOE)
Do You See a Difficult Child — or a Child in Difficulty?
At Lifestyles Residential Services, we believe the difference lies in perspective — and in the people who care enough to look deeper.
We're not just looking for someone to stay awake during the night. We're looking for someone who understands that the night can be the hardest time for a child who has experienced trauma — and that safety, calm and quiet reassurance can change everything.
If you value compassion, teamwork, integrity, structure, and hard work, and if you want to be part of a team that truly makes a difference — even while the world sleeps — we'd love to hear from you.
Because for the right person, this isn't just a job — it's a calling.
The Role
You'll be joining our team at our Dungiven home, a therapeutic residential setting for up to three young people aged 12–17. Working nights, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the home is calm, consistent and safe during evening and overnight hours.
This role is about more than supervision — it's about offering emotional safety, responding with empathy, and ensuring young people feel held and supported, even in the quiet hours.
What You'll Be Doing
- Maintaining a safe, nurturing environment through consistent overnight presence
- Supporting young people with bedtime routines, night-time anxieties, and any emotional needs that arise
- Conducting regular welfare and safety checks throughout the night
- Responding to incidents or disruptions with calm, trauma-informed care
- Ensuring detailed, accurate record keeping and clear handovers to day teams
- Completing housekeeping tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and home organisation while young people are asleep — helping ensure the home is prepared for the following day
- Supporting the home's nightly routines and structure in line with care plans and safeguarding expectations
- Working collaboratively with the wider care team to ensure consistency of care
What You'll Need
Essential:
- A Level 2 qualification (or higher) in Health & Social Care, or related field
- At least 1 year of experience working with children or young people (preferably in residential care)
- NISCC registration (or registered before start)
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience working night shifts in care settings
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and child development
- Confidence working alone or in small teams
- Strong emotional resilience and crisis-response skills
Terms & Benefits
- Contract: Full-time, Permanent (38 hours per week, night shifts)
- Hours: 8:00pm – 8:00am (3 shifts per week on rota basis)
- Salary: £24,500–£26,500 (depending on qualifications and experience)
- Location: In-person – Dungiven
Benefits Include:
- Full induction and training
- Access to trauma-informed practice framework
- Regular reflective practice and supervision
- Private healthcare scheme
- Company pension
- Free on-site parking
- Opportunities for progression into senior and day roles if desired
