Purpose of the Role

The Supported Accommodation Manager is responsible for the operational and care management of supported accommodation services across Chapman Housing.

This role ensures the delivery of safe, person-centred, and high-quality support to residents while maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and housing standards. The postholder will oversee safeguarding, and promote independence and inclusion for all residents.

The initial phase of this role will involve the role of providing supported accommodation for a minimum of six residents.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Legislation and Compliance

  • Work within all relevant legislation and operational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with service outcomes and contractual requirements, maintaining accurate records and striving to deliver an outstanding service for both residents and the organisation.
  • Will be responsible for quality improvement, safeguarding, and health and safety.
  • Demonstrate duty of care, duty of candour, and uphold professional responsibilities at all times.
  • Safeguard vulnerable service users and operate within safeguarding legislation.
  • Ensure services are delivered in accordance with the service specification and relevant regulations.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the service, oversee day to day service delivery and ongoing development responsibilities.
  • Participate in complex needs, risk assessments and support plan reviews.
  • Manage all complaints, incidents, and accidents.
  • Attend all training courses as directed and take responsibility for maintaining and improving your own knowledge and skills through experience and training.
  • Provide reports, information, and statistics as required by senior managers.
  • Deliver regular supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings to promote high performance and development.
  • Provide caring, respectful, and personalised support in line with organisational values.

Person-Centred Support

  • Ensuring support plans encourage development of potential and the maintenance of existing skills.
  • Conduct assessments and inductions for new residents, developing outcome-focused support plans.
  • Promote independence, community engagement, life skills, including budgeting guidance, travel training, and independent living skills.
  • Support residents with managing rent, benefits, and financial responsibilities.
  • Attend meetings with the people we support, their families, and other professionals from Social and Health Services.
  • Facilitate review meetings with residents, families, advocates, and commissioners.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with data protection and professional standards.
  • Oversee support, ensuring dignity, choice and respect at all times.
  • Foster positive working relationships with other relevant statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • Lead on safeguarding concerns and ensure compliance with local authority protocols and the Care Act 2014.

Quality, Compliance, and Health & Safety

  • Conduct regular quality audits and produce service reports for management and commissioners.
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, risk assessment and safe working practices.
  • Manage complaints and feedback processes effectively, ensuring timely resolution and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain awareness of all relevant health and safety legislation, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

Professional Conduct and Representation

  • Maintain good working relations and represent the organisation positively and progressively in dealings with external services and professionals.
  • Operate in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Represent Chapman Housing Limited positively at stakeholder meetings and community forums.
  • Promote the service positively within the local community and professional networks.

Flexibility and General Duties

  • Be flexible and able to vary working hours according to the needs of the business, including some weekend and evening work (in person, by telephone, or by email).
  • Undertake any other duties that reasonably fall within the scope of the role as required to ensure the safe and smooth running of the service.

Essential Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar position within the social care or supported housing sector, with evidence of experience supporting similar client groups.
  • Recognised vocational qualification relevant to the post, e.g. Level 4/5 Diploma in Health & Social Care, Leadership, or Management (or willingness to undertake within 12 months).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write and implement risk assessments, support plans, and audits.
  • Previous experience in the use of the relevant IT software.
  • Commitment to learning, training, and professional development.
  • Reliable, trustworthy and patient.
