Quality Assurance Officer

This new position has been created to strengthen our established quality function. The role carries genuine influence because you will take the lead in checking and assuring the quality of finished products leaving the High Marnham site. Your presence will help maintain confidence in our standards and ensure our customers receive products that meet every expectation. You will be a key link between production teams and the wider quality department contributing to a culture of rigour responsibility and continual improvement.
Location: Primarily based at High Marnham (NG22 0FX) with regular integration and collaboration with the Quality Team at Low Marnham (NG23 6SP)
Working pattern: Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm. On occasion you may be required to support operational needs outside normal hours.

Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining monitoring and developing quality systems and report findings to the Quality Manager and Head of SHEQ
- Review procedures to reflect legislative change and stakeholder requirements
- Support compliance with environmental customer and regulatory standards
- Monitor and report on product quality including CCP compliance
- Lead on quality checks for finished product leaving High Marnham
- Conduct internal audits and factory inspections
- Carry out daily factory walks and hygiene checks
- Update and control all quality documentation
- Collect prepare and submit product and swab samples
- Maintain laboratory equipment and materials
- Support customer and authority audits with required documentation
- Investigate quality complaints and support corrective actions
- Provide training on quality standards and expectation
- Conduct validation checks including NIR scans and lab result verification
- Drive quality performance and cost saving opportunities
- Work closely with cross functional teams to resolve quality concerns
- Participate fully in SHEQ reporting including near misses and pest control
Requirements
Essential
- GCSEs or a relevant Diploma
- Strong understanding of quality systems and documentation control including
- HACCP internal auditing and QMS
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Competent in Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook
- Confident communicator in writing and in person
- At least two years' experience in a manufacturing or QA environment
- Sound understanding of regulatory and customer standards
- Capability to assess product quality and complete audits with accuracy
- Organised proactive and comfortable working independently or with others
- Genuine enthusiasm for improving standards and shaping a positive working culture
- Full driving licence due to the location of the site
Desirable
- HACCP Level 3 Food Hygiene Level 3
- Experience within FMCG or the rendering sector
- Knowledge of ISO9000 GMP Plus BRC APHA and DEFRA requirements
- More than three years in QA roles
- Internal Auditor qualification
