More detail about the role The post holder is responsible, for the effective day to day running and performance, of the Cancer MDT process, including management of the MDT coordinator teams. They ensure Cancer Waiting Times guidance is adhered to in cancer tracking and data management within the MDT Coordinator teams and wider teams across the trust. They are responsible for ensuring cancer tracking is delivered in a timely manner and to a high standard to support PTL management and to facilitate timely treatment of patients with a suspicion or diagnosis of cancer.
In addition, they lead validation and root cause analysis of all patient records that have breached cancer waiting times targets, in order to gather and escalate themes and issues for improvement. In this role as Cancer Performance Manager, you will be instrumental in driving the cancer services operating rhythm including delivery of effective MDT meetings, regular tracking of patients and data quality assurance. You will drive improvements in tumour site PTL management and report performance routinely, internally and externally. In addition, you will be responsible for working with colleagues from across the organisation to improve the efficiency of our cancer pathways and for the management of a team of c.
25 specialist cancer administrators, located in Exeter and Barnstable. In collaboration with the Cancer Programme and Performance General Manager and Cancer Services Management team, this key role ensures the safe and effective delivery of cancer pathways. Candidates should have experience in the application of Cancer Waiting Times Guidance, as well as operational experience of managing cancer pathways in an acute NHS setting. The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting teams to deliver cancer pathways.
The post holder will work closely with clinical and operational teams across the various tumour groups, and the wider organisation, to drive positive change. Analytical, communication and organisational skills are essential for this role, alongside a passion for delivering service improvement and optimal patient experience. They lead cancer performance reporting. Working with colleagues in corporate teams to ensure data availability, improved data accuracy and effective reporting; delivering a range of complex reports to internal and external audiences.
They lead on annual planning and trajectory setting, liaising with tumour site and care group leadership as well as finance and business intelligence colleagues. They have relationships with regional and national cancer management colleagues, cancer alliance and NHS regional cancer managers, ensuring the trust is linked into national and regional planning and innovation intensions. They have close working relationships with the Cancer Improvement Managers and the Cancer Information Manager, ensuring there is a common purpose, working to support performance and quality improvements for patients on a cancer pathway.
