Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mentor to support and guide children on their educational journey. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in early childhood education and have proven experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs. As a Mentor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive, nurturing learning environment, helping children develop essential skills and promoting their overall well-being.

Responsibilities

Child-Centred Support

  • Provide dedicated one-on-one support to children, helping them navigate both academic challenges and personal development.
  • Develop and implement creative and engaging educational activities that are catered to the individual needs and interests of each child.
  • Encourage enthusiastic participation in physical education and recreational activities to promote overall health and well-being.

Behaviour and Social Development

  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies to promote constructive interactions and a focused learning atmosphere.
  • Facilitate communication and build rapport between children and their peers to enhance social skills and a sense of community.

Collaboration and Planning

  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create and implement tailored educational plans.
  • Carefully monitor and document progress, providing clear feedback on each child's development and adjusting strategies as necessary.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A strong understanding of early childhood education principles and best practices.
  • Proven experience working with children, especially those requiring special education support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A confident knowledge of positive behaviour management techniques to foster a supportive environment.
  • Proficiency in foundational maths to assist children effectively with their academic needs.
  • A creative ability to educate children on various subjects while making learning accessible and enjoyable.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a car.

Highly Desirable

  • Prior experience in a childcare, preschool, or similar setting.
  • A background in physical education or related fields is advantageous.
