Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Glazing Estimator to join our team, specialising in medium to large-scale aluminium façade, curtain walling and commercial window/door packages typically ranging from £500k to £2m. This is a key role within a well-established, professionally structured business delivering schemes across commercial, residential, education, healthcare and public-sector environments.

As a senior member of our commercial department, you will take ownership of the estimating function and play an active role in training and developing trainee estimators, helping to build a strong, future-ready pre-construction team. You will also have scope to influence process improvements and support the continued development of our commercial operations

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, commercially balanced estimates for aluminium curtain walling, façades, windows, doors, screens and associated glazing works

  • Analyse and interpret architectural and structural drawings, schedules, specifications and tender packages for projects between £500k and £2m

  • Liaise with main contractors, architects, developers and system suppliers to clarify scope, obtain pricing and ensure technical compliance

  • Assess material, fabrication, labour and installation costs, including value-engineering options and risk analysis

  • Provide technical and commercial guidance to sales, design, contracts and production teams

  • Train, mentor and support trainee estimators, ensuring high standards of accuracy, consistency and commercial awareness

  • Maintain and improve cost databases, pricing models and estimating systems

  • Support continuous improvement in commercial governance, compliance, handover quality and estimating best practice

  • Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits and client discussions where required

Skills

  • Strong, proven experience estimating commercial glazing or aluminium façade packages at values of £500k–£2m

  • Excellent technical knowledge of aluminium systems such as Aluprof, Technal, SAS, Kawneer, Schüco or similar

  • Confident reviewing and interpreting complex drawings, NBS specifications and tender documentation

  • Proficiency in LogiKal, Business Micros or similar estimating software
    • High level of commercial awareness, numerical accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deliver to strict deadlines
    • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills

  • A collaborative approach with an interest in developing junior team members
    • Understanding of building regulations, CWCT standards and façade performance requirements (advantageous)
