The Vacancy
As a Building Services Engineering Trainee at Wates, you'll learn about the design, installation and maintenance of the essential services and equipment that make a great building. With a focus on the technical and commercial aspects of projects, you will develop your experience across a project's entire life cycle, to understand how everything fits together.
What You Will Do
Over the course of the programme, you will:
- Learn how mechanical and electrical services are designed, installed and maintained.
- Research current and emerging technology, understanding how it can be used to produce safe, sustainable, innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor essential progress and information to support team meetings.
- Support with managing the quality of our subcontractors MEP installations.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Commercial and Planning, to observe and learn about their processes for controlling and delivering a project.

Eligibility criteria
To Be Considered For This Opportunity, You Must
- Be on track to graduate in 2026 or earlier with a degree in any discipline.
- Be working towards or have achieved a minimum 2:2 classification.
- Hold a full UK driving licence – location specific (details below).

- North West London – Harrow.
- Thetford – Please note a full UK driving licence is required for this location.
Programme duration
This is a 2-year graduate programme offering hands-on experience, structured development and placements across different teams.
