The Role
Take ownership of mechanical design projects for our pilot plant and special projects in a truly unique role. We're looking for a confident engineer, whether an ambitious graduate with solid industry experience or a seasoned mechanical design professional, who can independently drive projects and bring concepts to life.
You'll shape design, installation, and optimisation efforts, collaborating with operational, commercial and chemical teams to ensure systems work seamlessly. Every day brings the chance to innovate, see your ideas in action, and contribute directly to the UK's Net Zero journey.
Build your technical expertise, develop leadership skills, and take control of projects that make a real difference, all while shaping a career where your initiative and creativity are valued.
What You'll Do
- Lead mechanical design and development for high-impact special projects and the ACT2 pilot plant.
- Work closely with operational, chemical engineering, and commercial teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Create detailed drawings, specifications, and models using Autodesk and other design software.
- Select, source, and manage mechanical equipment and suppliers.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and optimisation of mechanical systems to ensure efficiency and reliability.
- Support preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and feedback to foster their growth.
- Take full ownership of projects, driving them from concept through to delivery and impact.
About Us
We are Altilium Clean Technology, the UK's only company recovering critical minerals from end-of-life lithium EV batteries. Based in Plymouth, we transform used batteries into valuable resources, helping to secure a domestic supply of materials and supporting the nation's Net Zero ambitions. At the forefront of clean technology and the circular economy, we are creating sustainable solutions for the future of energy
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven industry experience in mechanical design.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, working directly with equipment, systems, or installations.
- Proficiency with Autodesk and other design/modelling software.
- Solid understanding of piping, pumping, filtering, and general mechanical systems.
- Motivated to take ownership, drive projects independently, and see concepts through from design to delivery.
- Eager to learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication..
This is your opportunity to apply your skills, accelerate your growth, and play a key role in the UK's clean energy revolution. Join us and put your engineering expertise to work on projects that truly make a difference.
Our Commitment
We're building an inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all backgrounds. Different perspectives make us stronger.
If you require any adjustments during the application process or in the role, let us know - we'll do our best to accommodate.
