Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support educational programmes within a specialised setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with children, including those with autism and disabilities, to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on children's development while gaining valuable experience in education and special needs support.
The position is to start 5th January 2026 Term Time Only 22 hours per week until 31st August 2026. Please apply via the link

Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational activities to children with diverse needs, including those with autism and other disabilities
- Support children's individual learning plans, ensuring they are engaged and motivated
- Provide one-on-one assistance to children requiring additional support, including toddlers and those with special educational needs
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support behavioural management strategies under the guidance of teaching staff
- Facilitate communication between children and teachers, promoting effective interaction
- Assist with organisational tasks such as preparing materials and maintaining classroom resources
- Observe and record children's progress, reporting any concerns to the supervising teacher
Requirements
- Experience working with children, particularly in special education or with individuals with disabilities or autism
- Knowledge of toddler care and early childhood development is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's learning and wellbeing
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Relevant experience or training in teaching or special education is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is important
- Paid position that requires commitment, reliability, and a proactive approach to supporting children's educational needs
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract

Pay: From £12,959.02 per year
