Main Purpose and Scope of Job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Engineer to join our team. In this role, you would be responsible for leading customer estimating activities for the estimating department as well as providing commercial support to the engineering cost of sales function.
- Within this role you will report to the Operations Director.
Key accountabilities
- To estimate customer quotations for CNC machined parts using best practice methodology.
- Prepare cost estimates to support the acquisition of new business to include relevant requirements.
- Work closely with Supply chain to order materials to customer specification.
- To manage estimating activities between the estimating team.
- To provide commercial support in relation to engineering Cost Of Sales.
- To review lessons learned from COS data and implement ideas for suture cost savings.
- Help to drive continuous improvement programs within the department.
- To closely support the engineering team to meet customer demand.
- Where required introduce process documentation.
Knowledge Required
- Understanding of processes in a precision engineering environment.
- Experience in delivering cost saving initiatives.
- Ability to organise workload within a small team.
- Understanding of engineering processes, tooling and fixtures.
