Position Summary
The
LSEG Oil Research team
is providing market insight, analysis and instantaneous access to clients interested in the crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals sectors by continuously monitoring global supply and demand, trade flows, infrastructure outages, derivatives markets and other financial activities.

We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst with market or industry knowledge of naphtha and / or petrochemicals. The role can be based in either Dubai, London or Mumbai, with a focus on the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for publishing weekly and event-driven market reports and insights, contributing to development and maintenance of supply and demand models and monitoring trade flows and other relevant market factors, including pricing.

The new joiner will be involved in data collection and manipulation, quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as report development and client presentations. The candidate will be encouraged to help develop advanced models and visuals in Python and PowerBI to support our market analysis and outlooks, and build relationships with various partners in the relevant regional energy markets.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic Research team in the oil sector to design and develop new methodologies, quantitative models and analysis that enhance existing or new products and services.

Role Responsibilities
Conducting primary and secondary research on naphtha and / or petrochemical markets, delivering written and quantitative analysis and collaborating on supply and demand models. In this capacity, the person will serve as a key member of the global Naphtha and / or Petrochemicals Product teams and the broader regional Oil and Commodities Research teams, supporting others where needed. The new joiner will be encouraged to build positive relationships both inside the company and with customers, to understand their drivers and deliver positive outcomes. Additionally, the candidate will develop and maintain a network of local and international market players to provide insight and improve our products.

Qualifications And Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree equivalent knowledge of Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Data Science, Engineering or Petroleum studies from a reputable university. A Master's or technical specialization / certification would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in the physical product markets or a research house, either as a trader or analyst, with strong understanding in market fundamentals and the oil and gas value chain. Candidates with experience in the Refining or Petrochemical sectors are also encouraged to apply.
  • Collaborative and flexible approach to delivering value-additive outcomes for clients.
  • Understanding of financial markets, and their impact on the oil industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively convey information at various levels within the organization, as well as external clients.
  • Experience building global supply and demand models, either as part of a Research advisory organization or for an oil company, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is a must. Knowledge of Python and data science / analytics techniques is a strong advantage, as is advanced knowledge of PowerBI.
  • Strong time management skills for balancing multiple tasks simultaneously, while completing work within allocated timeframes.
  • Good critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Network of physical trading contacts in EMEA and, potentially, other regions is desirable
