The Health & Safety Advisor role…

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join our team and to promote, drive and enhance a culture focused on health, safety, and environmental compliance. To be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies to create a safe working environment for all employees, in our manufacturing factories in Cleckheaton (BD19 3QF) and Bradford (BD5 8SW) and in the Head Office in Leeds (LS12 6NJ).

This is a hands-on role which will help drive Pure Pet Food promise to champion Paws (dogs) and People through the enhancement of workplace health & wellbeing.

Duties and responsibilities of the role are:

  • Be competent and confident to own and drive the H&S function in the business.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace H&S policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant H&S legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Implement and carry out internal H&S audits.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports. Support corrective actions.
  • Deliver H&S training sessions and toolbox talks for employees. Maintain H&S training matrix.
  • Maintain accurate H&S inspections, incidents, and audits.
  • Develop and maintain emergency procedures and conduct drills.
  • Carry out routine testing of / arrange service of relevant H&S equipment (sensors, alarms, extinguishers etc.).
  • Collaborate with management to promote a strong H&S culture across the organization.
  • Provide guidance on personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper usage.
  • Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting of compliance matters.
  • Chair frequent H&S meetings with relevant factory leadership team members.
  • Continuously challenge and improve the H&S standards.
  • Overlook Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and ensure timely completion.
  • Schedule and coordinate service visits for equipment, inspections, and compliance checks.

It's essential that you have:

· IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification in Health and Safety. NEBOSH Certificate is preferred.

· Proven experience in a health and safety role, ideally in a food manufacturing (strongly preferred) or similar manufacturing environment.

· Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.

· Ability to analyse risks and implement practical safety solutions.

· Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health & safety management software (if applicable).

· First Aid and Fire Safety certification (preferred but not mandatory).
