The role

We are seeking an experienced governance and compliance engineer to join the Hexegic team. You'll be responsible for ensuring data operations, systems and processes comply with defence standards, whilst maintaining robust governance practices. The ideal candidate will have a robust knowledge of technical expertise and regulatory frameworks, particularly within UK Armed Forces standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure organisational compliance with relevant JSPs including JSP 440, JSP 453, JSP 604 and other applicable standards
  • Interpret departmental security and information governance policies across operations
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive risk management frameworks
  • Create and manage risk registers ensuring identification, evaluation and mitigation or compliance and security risks
  • Lead end-to-end DPIA processes for new projects and systems
  • Maintain comprehensive compliance documentation including policies, procedures and audit trails
  • Define data quality standards, ensuring appropriate classification, handling and retention of sensitive datasets

What we are looking for

  • Strong understanding of JSPs
  • Understanding of data architecture, data flows and system integration patterns
  • Demonstrated experience conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Experience working with government or military organisations
  • Knowledge or understanding of Cloud Security Compliance, and DevSecOps practices
