Pride in London is embracing a renewed sense of purpose that resonates with everyone. We stand as a beacon to highlight ongoing challenges within the LGBTQ+ community, even amidst progress. Our roots intertwine the protest origins of Pride with the spirit of celebration.. Our guiding values – Visibility, Unity, and Equality – drive every step we take.

Our incredible team is a blend of passionate staff and volunteers who champion diversity, inclusivity, and understanding. We hail from diverse walks of life, forming a vibrant community of change-makers. Our ultimate goal? To amplify awareness of LGBTQ+ matters and advocate for the rights that ensure equal lives for all.

With a diverse and dedicated year-round team of around 150 volunteers, we orchestrate Pride in London, the incredible event that unites us all. Your unique voice can contribute to the symphony

The Volunteer Director of DEI will lead the organisation's strategic approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that Pride in London's values of visibility, unity, and equality are embedded across our culture, governance, operations, and community engagement. This role supports our mission to create an inclusive and equitable environment for volunteers, staff, partners, and the communities we serve.

This role reports to The Board & CEO

Time Commitment & Term

  • Approx. 6–8 hours per week (flexible, depending on activity cycle)
  • Voluntary appointment, renewable subject to review
  • Weekly Online Meetings, Attendance at monthly All Team meetings and quarterly Board sessions

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a multi-year DEI strategy aligned with Pride in London's mission and values.
  • Review and strengthen organisational policies, governance, and procedures to ensure they uphold inclusion, equity, and accessibility.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the CEO, Board, and Senior Leadership Team on DEI best practices and emerging issues.
  • Coordinate DEI training, awareness programmes, and learning opportunities for volunteers and staff.
  • Establish measurable DEI goals and report progress to the Board, highlighting areas for improvement.
  • Champion diverse and inclusive representation across all Pride in London events, partnerships, and communications.
  • Build relationships with community organisations, advocacy groups, and partners to ensure Pride in London's work reflects the full diversity of London's LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Lead internal working groups or committees focused on equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives.
  • Serve as an ambassador for DEI within and beyond the organisation, representing Pride in London with integrity and empathy.

Essential
What you'll bring to Pride in London

  • A strong commitment to LGBTQ+ equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or contributing to DEI initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Empathetic and collaborative approach with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage volunteer responsibilities effectively.

Desirable

  • Experience in the voluntary, community, or events sector.
  • Understanding of UK equality and inclusion legislation (e.g. Equality Act 2010).
  • Familiarity with DEI metrics, data analysis, or reporting.
  • Experience delivering training or capacity-building programmes.
