Volunteer Service Officer – Lancashire Volunteer Partnership

Make a Difference in Lancashire Communities

Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals and building stronger communities? Join the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership as a Volunteer Service Officer and play a vital role in connecting volunteers with those who need them most.

While the officer will have a primary focus of supporting volunteering within the West Lancashire District, they will be expected to work flexibly across other service areas, adapting to emerging needs and contributing to the overall success of the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership Team.

What you'll do:

  • Identify, recruit, and support volunteers, matching their skills and interests with the needs of individuals and services across Lancashire County Council.
  • Provide support to vulnerable people by linking them with community support volunteers.
  • Work within a multi-agency team, upholding the values of dignity, respect, and person-centred practice.
  • Promote volunteering through PR and marketing activities, both online and face-to-face.
  • Deliver training and induction to volunteers.
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring effective matching and support to reduce social isolation and encourage inclusion.
  • Maintain and update accurate records using ICT systems such as Better Impact

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working with and supporting vulnerable individuals in community settings.
  • Ability to assess people's skills and match them with suitable opportunities.
  • Ability to assess clients in their own environment to understand their needs, preferences, and any barriers to social engagement.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders across public and voluntary sectors.
  • Ability to deliver presentations and training to diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Essential car user (reasonable adjustments considered for applicants with disabilities).

In return Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits including:

  • Agile working arrangements
  • Generous annual leave entitlement (pro Rata)
  • Annual leave buy back scheme
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Childcare Vouchers (Salary Sacrifice Scheme)
  • Learning and development opportunities
