Job description
Sheffield Family Hubs are looking to appoint a number of enthusiastic and dedicated Business Support Officers to provide effective administration and business process support to the Family Hub service and team. These posts are permanent. Job shares will be considered.
We're looking for team players to join our Family Hub Teams of Infant Feeding Peer Support Workers, DOULA officers, Early Years Prevention Workers and Community Support Workers where our Business Support Officers carry out a wide range of administrative tasks including providing a warm and welcoming service, meeting and greeting families and professionals, updating our data base systems, printing, documents, processing and answering a busy telephone line to our customers. Applicants need to be good communicators and possess high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
These roles sit within Children's Services, alongside other Family Hub services where you will work alongside colleagues from other service areas such as Midwifery, Health Visiting, Parenting and Peri-natal Mental Health. You will be required to work at any of our Family Hub sites across the city.
The successful applicants will be team players, with excellent customer service and communication skills. You will be familiar with using computer systems as well as use other applications such as Word, Excel and Microsoft Teams alongside some of our bespoke IT systems. The role will require an excellent ability to prioritise, work to deadlines and follow standard operating procedures.
Experience of working in a related job is not essential in applying for the post if relevant transferable skills and experiences are demonstrated, and applicants are willing to learn. Your learning and development are important to us and alongside joining a friendly and welcoming team you'll be supported to achieve your potential.
For further information about these posts please contact Family Hub Coordinator, Lisa Smith,
We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
Under the Guaranteed Interview scheme, applicants who are disabled, care leavers, or armed forces veterans will be guaranteed an interview if they meet the essential criteria and indicate their eligibility on the application form.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all individuals, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone and where appropriate to the role the successful applicant will be required to undertake relevant safeguarding checks.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026.
