The Vacancy
Are you passionate about improving the lives of people affected by dementia? Dougie Mac is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our growing Dementia Services Team, providing expert, holistic, and person-centred care across the dementia journey.
As a Dementia Services Nurse Specialist, you'll work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team within our dedicated Dementia Services, you will lead on delivering holistic, person-centred care that addresses the physical, psychological, social and emotional needs of people with dementia and their carers'. You will manage a clinical caseload, contribute to multidisciplinary discussions, and offer expert guidance to colleagues across the hospice and wider system.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced practitioner who wants to make a real difference through proactive care, education, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialist nursing assessment, triage, and evidence-based interventions for people with dementia.
- Provide emotional support, practical advice and advance care planning to families and carers.
- Provide specialist advice and direct and indirect training for other professionals in dementia interventions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records using our shared electronic database.
- Takes professional responsibility for ensuring effective communication between all service providers across the care pathway.
- Participate in reflective practice, supervision, and safeguarding procedures as required.
- Promote the dignity, autonomy, and rights of people living with dementia.
- Proactively identify patients at risk of delirium and provide advice and support on delirium management.
About You:
- Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) with current NMC registration.
- Experience working with people affected by dementia, ideally in a palliative or community setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload.
- Strong communication skills, emotional resilience and a commitment to holistic care.
- Confident using clinical guidelines and contributing to quality improvement and audit activity.
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits.
