Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Chef to join our team at Ty Coch Nursing Home. You will work closely with the Head Chef to prepare and serve meals that meet the dietary and nutritional needs of our residents. This role requires a passion for cooking, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high food hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, balanced meals for residents.
  • Support in catering for individual dietary needs, including allergies, medical requirements, and preferences.
  • Ensure meals are presented attractively and served on time.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and food storage areas in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Assist in stock rotation, inventory management, and ordering supplies when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including COSHH and food hygiene standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and care staff to provide a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Cover kitchen duties in the absence of the Head Chef where required.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a catering or kitchen assistant role (care home or healthcare setting preferred).
  • A basic understanding of dietary requirements, nutrition, and portion control.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above preferred).
  • A team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • A genuine passion for working in a care environment and supporting residents' wellbeing.
