Due to internal promotion, we are seeking a dynamic and committed Support Worker to join our dedicated team and help achieve the best outcomes for care-experienced children and young people.
About the RoleAs a Support Worker in CLA, you'll never have a dull moment. Our diverse caseload includes young people with a range of plans for their future – from adoption and foster care to residential homes and independent living. You will:
- Support children and young people with family time, life story work, and wellbeing activities.
- Assist with practical tasks such as passport applications, transporting children and belongings, and organising resources.
- Make referrals, support life appreciation days, and contribute to duty work.
- Build meaningful, long-term relationships with young people, supporting them through highs and lows.
This role offers varied learning experiences, enabling you to develop assessment and direct work skills in a supportive environment. You'll work with young people from diverse backgrounds, making every day both challenging and rewarding.
Required Qualifications & Experience- NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent) – essential.
- Significant experience working with vulnerable children and young people in a social work setting.
- Understanding of the impact of trauma, neglect, and early adversity on adolescents.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and provide consistent support.
- Outstanding Ofsted-rated service.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
