Practice Group / Department:

Business Development Leadership - EMEAJob Description

We're Norton Rose Fulbright - a global law firm with over 50 offices and 7,000 employees worldwide. We provide the world's preeminent corporations and financial institutions with a full business law service. At Norton Rose Fulbright, our strategy and our culture are closely entwined. We know that our expansion will mean little unless it is underpinned by truly global collaboration and we understand that pioneering work only takes place when our people have room to move and think beyond boundaries. As well as the relevant skills and experience, we're looking for people who are innovative, commercial and value the work that they do.

The Role

We are recruiting for a senior professional to drive our approach to marketing strategy and implementation across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific (EMEAPAC).

The Director of Marketing oversees a regional team of specialists and reports to the EMEAPAC Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer. They work alongside three other Directors responsible for Communications, Business Development, and Client Development within the regional MBD team.

The Director of Marketing is responsible for leading an integrated, multi-channel approach to driving the firm's market-facing profile. They will work in close partnership with the Director of Communications on external brand, and with the Directors of Business Development and Client Development on ensuring our marketing approach supports the strategic evolution of our client portfolio.

This role has ownership of significant projects including the development and launch of a new global website, and the deployment of a significant upgrade to our customer relationship management system. Their team is responsible for EMEAPAC delivery of digital marketing, content and campaigns, brand and creative services, events and hospitality, and alumni management.

This person will be strongly and consistently business-facing. Regular communication with our partners and senior leadership is necessary to ensure the team's efforts are focused on supporting our regional commercial strategy.

The role also has responsibility for ensuring that the EMEAPAC practice is represented at a global level, inputting into wider projects as required in collaboration with their counterparts in the US, Canada and South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a client-focused regional marketing strategy for EMEAPAC, ensuring alignment with firmwide priorities and commercial objectives.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of an integrated, multi-channel marketing programme covering campaigns and content, digital, events, brand and creative services.
  • Ownership of two key strategic deliverables: leading the EMEAPAC team working as part of a global project to develop and launch our new website; and the launch and development of an upgraded CRM system in EMEAPAC.
  • Working in close alignment with others in the regional and global MBD teams to drive integrated campaigns in our key markets, with a focus on return on investment and brand development.
  • Serve as a champion of new approaches and best practice in the marketing space, in particular with partners and senior leadership.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the regional marketing team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture across specialities and time zones.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Extensive marketing and brand experience, both in terms of hands-on delivery and developing strategy.
  • Significant experience of working in a multinational, matrixed, fast-moving professional services business, ideally in the legal sector.
  • Experience of project management and delivery of complex technology projects
  • A proven track record of supporting and influencing senior decision makers in commercial decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate effectively in a matrixed leadership structure.
  • Genuine, infectious enthusiasm for developing marketing and brand strategies, and the ability to make an impact quickly with diverse teams when working on individual projects.
  • Intellectual and analytical ability to comprehend, synthesize and simplify complex ideas and issues.
  • Networks within the firm and builds strong relationships with stakeholders to guide and advise them on how to effect change within the business.
  • Both strategic and pragmatic; working to deliver a long-term strategic plan while ensuring a regular delivery of practical improvements.
  • Shows a strong passion and a strong sense of urgency about reaching targets and delivering results.
  • Exceptionally collaborative and non-political – enjoys working as part of a team, building trust at all levels, proactively sharing information, involving others in stakeholder relationships and seeking a diversity of views.
  • Highly professional, demonstrating sound judgment and discretion with unquestionable ethics and integrity.
