Position Overview
Technicon Design UK are seeking a highly skilled
Senior Lead Interior Clay Modeller
to join our clients interior design studio team. This role is pivotal in transforming design concepts into physical models that accurately reflect the creative vision and technical requirements. You will lead a team of clay modellers, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship and timely delivery of interior models for design reviews and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model Creation

  • Build full-scale and scale interior clay models from sketches, CAD data, and digital renderings.

  • Integrate hard parts and components into clay models for accurate representation.

  • Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a team of clay modellers, ensuring quality and consistency.

  • Coordinate with design, CAS, and engineering teams to meet project milestones.

  • Technical Expertise

  • Apply advanced clay modelling techniques, including milling, dressing, and finishing.

  • Utilize CMM and 3D scanning for precision and accuracy.

  • Presentation

  • Prepare models for internal and executive-level reviews.

  • Provide feedback and collaborate with designers to refine concepts.

  • Continuous Improvement

  • Research and implement new modelling techniques and materials.

  • Foster innovation and craftsmanship within the team.

Qualifications

  • Experience

  • 10+ years in clay modelling, with significant interior automotive design experience.

  • Proven leadership in managing clay modelling projects and teams.

  • Skills

  • Expertise in clay modelling tools and processes.

  • Ability to interpret CAD data and design sketches.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Education

  • Degree in Automotive Design, Industrial Design, or equivalent experience.
