An exciting opportunity has arisen at Weymouth Town Council for a creative and organised Events Officer to join our team and help bring Weymouth's events to life. Our Council serves a population of over 55,000 people. It has a range of services including Weymouth beach, promenade, parks, gardens, events, cemeteries, public toilets, and allotments.

As the postholder, you will lead on planning and delivering our annual events programme, including writing and reviewing event plans, setting and reviewing objectives, managing and co-ordinating logistics and ensuring all Council run events comply with the relevant legislation.

You'll work closely with community groups, partners, and other councils to make our events engaging for residents and visitors of all ages. From managing budgets and co-ordinating bookings to researching and coming up with fresh ideas, you'll play a key role in shaping what's happening in Weymouth. You'll also work alongside our Resort Manager, Communications Team, and Sustainability Officer to make sure our events are innovative and environmentally friendly by following the Council's Green Events criteria.

You'll be able to flex your time to meet the needs of the role using time off in lieu. The Council is open to discussions around compressed hours, term time hours, job shares, and other flexible patterns to support you.

The successful candidate will be able to access a wide range of public sector non-financial benefits including the opportunity to join the generous Local Government Pension Scheme, holiday entitlement of 26 days plus bank holidays, five additional days leave after five years' service, three days given leave for Christmas, free employee assistance programme, and a range of benefits through our HR provider.
