Lighting Project Manager

London, Greater London, United Kingdom Ideaworks Full time £40,000 - £80,000 per year

(aka: an exceptional communicator, a challenge-lover, a natural problem-solver… and a lighting-obsessed, detail-driven geek at heart.)

We design and supply lighting for the world's finest homes and superyachts, and we're looking for a Project Manager with exceptionally high standards to match. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our projects – both in the UK and internationally.

As a Lighting Project Manager, you'll work closely with leading Lighting Designers, delivering their creative intent while navigating the inevitable challenges of bringing a project to life. At Ideaworks, we believe that great lighting design is only half the puzzle; the other half is world-class delivery. You already know this. It's why you thrive in the detail, the pressure, and the pursuit of getting things absolutely right.

You'll have a genuine passion for lighting (or a strong desire to develop one), a meticulous eye, a good grasp of numbers, and a deep curiosity for how things work. You love solving problems others shy away from, you're not afraid of a hard conversation, and you care deeply about quality. We have high standards, but so do you.

We'll be honest: our projects are demanding. But they're also unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. And the truth is… you wouldn't want it any other way. You're someone who simply gets things done.

Day-to-day, you'll be project managing the delivery of the lighting package on our projects, always putting our clients at the heart of what you do. Strong, clear communication – internally and externally – is a given. Getting the right equipment to the right place at the right time is non-negotiable… but you'll go further, constantly challenging the status quo and pushing to deliver even better for our clients.

Site visits will be expected (because how else can you truly understand what we deliver?), and as you visit our projects you'll work with both the wider Ideaworks team, and our external partners, to proactively identify potential issues, and ensure that everyone has what they need, when they need it.

Overall, you'll be the project's key point of contact for all things lighting throughout the construction phase, working closely with our technical design team and managing design deliverables to ensure every project has what it needs to succeed. You'll want to understand the design, not just ship boxes. Our clients experience simple and reliable systems, and you are eager to understand exactly how we create that simplicity.

The Role

  • Managing all contract deliverables – both product and labour – to ensure we deliver, always on time and always on budget.
  • Managing change, ensuring clients understand the cost and programme impact of their decisions.
  • Acting as a reliable project point of contact for all lighting-related matters.
  • Fielding questions – then finding (and understanding) the answer.
  • Working closely with project teams, both internally and externally, to keep everyone aligned and up to date.
  • Setting deadlines and holding yourself and others accountable.
  • Understanding client requirements and converting them into clear actions and deliverables.
  • Developing a strong understanding of the systems we deliver. You won't need to do the technical work yourself – but this is absolutely not a box-shifting role.

Location

This is hybrid role, split between our head office in Faversham, and project sites (in London, the home counties, and internationally). Some remote working and/or being based at one of our London offices may be negotiated after the probationary period.

About
At Ideaworks we are all about the right person and having a can-do attitude. We want our employees to represent our company values of:

  • Make it easy.
  • Set the bar high; really high.
  • Treat fellow colleagues like friends.
  • Deliver work we are proud of.
  • We are one team.
