Watch this short clip to discover how Arup are shaping a better world and how you could be a part of it

The Opportunity

Our award-winning landscape architecture practice is growing, with teams in Arup that are linked through a global network. In the UK we have offices in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield and Winchester. We also regularly work with our international offices in Brisbane, Hong Kong, New York, and Sydney. It is an integrated team of landscape designers and landscape planners, with projects including landscape assessment and strategy, LVIA, green infrastructure strategies, concept design, masterplanning, detailed design, landscape management, visualisations and 3D modelling. We work side by side with a wide range of Arup's other specialist disciplines including urban design, ecology, town planning, digital technology, engineering, cost consulting and project management.

We have a diverse workload of high-profile projects across the UK and internationally, ranging in scale from environmental infrastructure design, major transportation projects through to restoration, town centre regeneration, streetscape design and green buildings.

We are differentiated from our competitors by our ability to combine skills to solve particularly complex or unusual problems and help our clients to create an integrated vision with a full commitment to develop successful and sustainable places. We expect our designers to think creatively, innovatively, and develop the best outcomes for people, nature, and the environment.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for a talented Landscape Architect or a Senior Landscape Architect to join our growing team across the Midlands located in our new Birmingham City Centre office with flexible collaborative and hybrid working options available.

As a Landscape Architect within Arup, the focus of this role will be to provide a discipline lead and develop and run your own projects, of an appropriate scale to skill and experience. You will be working alongside an unrivalled community of experts, who will support and nurture your growth from the outset. In return, you'll help us deliver effective and professional services in a wide range of sectors for varied and high-profile clients. The Arup portfolio is exciting and diverse, exposing you to a range of project scales and types, each offering their own opportunity for tailored personal development. The candidate will be expected to work across the Mid-West Region and travel to sites via public transport and by hire car requiring a driving license.

We're looking for an applicant with passion for landscape, curiosity, personal drive and technical knowhow. If you can combine these skills with an understanding of the landscape architecture industry and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we'd like to hear from you.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications, attributes, and skills as well as an exceptional report writing ability, and an interest in design as part of an integrated design and assessment process.

    • A Masters or post graduate diploma qualification in landscape architecture or a related discipline and Chartered Membership (CMLI) or already actively working towards CMLI accreditation.
  • Demonstrable professional experience of landscape architecture with sector experience in areas such as energy, water, transport, infrastructure, commercial development, urban regeneration, residential, education, health, energy, historic buildings, and landscape planning strategic policy.
  • Ability to understand and respond to the needs of a project brief and share ideas through sketching and hand drawing.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. GIS (ArcGIS), and 3d modelling software (Revit, Microstation etc) would also be advantageous.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and lead landscape project teams while mentoring and coaching junior staff.
