London SE SG, United Kingdom Mitie Full time £30,000 - £35,000 per year

Mitie Projects – Engineering Graduate Programme 2026

Start Date: September 2026

Locations: London, Milton Keynes, Stevenage

Starting Salary: £30,000, with guaranteed six-monthly salary uplifts and a £1,000 relocation and early-career support allowance

At Mitie, we believe that when places work better, people do too. As the UK's leading facilities transformation and professional services business, our 80,000 colleagues help organisations create safer, smarter and more sustainable environments. Mitie Projects sits at the heart of this mission. From modernising critical national infrastructure to delivering low-carbon energy solutions, we design and deliver engineering projects that support organisations across the country and accelerate the UK's transition to a greener future.

Our Engineering Graduate Programme gives you the opportunity to join this work from day one.

Over two years, you'll have the freedom to shape your own rotational journey, giving you the autonomy to carve out the kind of engineer you want to become. Instead of following a fixed programme, you'll co-design your rotations with us, choosing the areas that excite you most. You will be able to rotate across the country working in specialist areas of Mitie Projects, including Power & Grid businesses (G2 Energy, Rock Power Connections, Custom Solar, ESM Power), JCA Engineering, our Projects Centre of Excellence, and our Consulting and Energy Solutions teams.

You'll contribute to real projects for major clients, gaining experience across design, energy systems, project delivery, infrastructure and sustainability. In your first year, you'll complete two six-month rotations; in your second, you'll spend a full year developing deeper expertise in a specialism that excites you.

Your development sits at the core of this programme. Alongside technical masterclasses, leadership and behavioural training and project-based learning, we will actively support you in working towards professional recognition and chartership with your relevant engineering institution – such as the IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or others aligned to your discipline. You'll receive structured guidance, access to experienced mentors, and the practical experience required to progress confidently towards Incorporated or Chartered status. You'll join a collaborative graduate community and benefit from supportive line management throughout your journey.

In your project work, you'll be hands-on: supporting project delivery, assisting with modelling and technical drawings, analysing site data, helping drive carbon reduction and performance improvements, and bringing fresh, data-informed insights to the decisions we make. You'll collaborate with colleagues across engineering, commercial, operations and consulting, all focused on creating environments where people and organisations can thrive.

We partner with over 3,000 public- and private-sector clients, including well-known organisations such as Network Rail, Rolls-Royce, NHS, and iconic sites like the Eden Project. Through Mitie Projects, we design and deliver engineering solutions that support some of the UK's most critical infrastructure, power systems and sustainability ambitions, giving you the chance to work on projects that really matter.

What we are looking for

We're looking for graduates who are not only technically capable, but genuinely excited by the idea of shaping the future of engineering within a fast-moving, real-world environment.

You can come from any engineering discipline; mechanical, electrical, civil, environmental, energy, building services, or anything in between; because what matters most is your mindset. You'll be naturally curious, proactive and eager to get stuck into complex challenges. You'll bring strong problem-solving skills, clear and confident communication, and the ability to work with data to make informed decisions. You'll be organised, adaptable and comfortable collaborating with a wide range of teams and clients.

Most importantly, you'll have the ambition to build a meaningful, long-term engineering career: someone who wants to contribute to high-impact projects, grow quickly, and help make the places our customers depend on safer, greener and more efficient.

What we can offer you

We understand the importance of financial stability as you begin your career, so our reward package is designed to give you confidence and momentum. You'll earn a £30,000 starting salary, with automatic salary uplifts every six months as your capability grows. To help you settle in, you'll also receive a £1,000 allowance when you join, supporting relocation, commuting or early-career costs. And at the end of the programme, you'll move straight into a permanent role with a guaranteed position, giving you clear progression and long-term job security.

Life at Mitie combines the stability of a large organisation with the culture of a people-first business. We offer flexibility, hybrid working where roles allow, opportunities to volunteer and give back, and a workplace where wellbeing and work-life balance are genuinely supported. You'll join a business that places sustainability and social value at the centre of what we do whether that's reducing carbon for clients, supporting local communities, or creating employment pathways across the UK.

We are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is accessible and inclusive. If you live with a disability, a long-term condition, or if there is anything that would help you perform at your best, we encourage you to tell us. As a Disability Confident Employer, we will work with you to make sure the process is fair and supportive.
