Job descriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant to join the Supplier Testing Team within Business Services. The team are responsible for planning and delivering controls testing of our high risk suppliers against a range of Operational and Conduct risk categories, and engage with a broad set of stakeholders both internally and externally.
As a Controls Testing Consultant, you'll take end to end ownership of a number of supplier tests within the annual plan, and deliver these to time and quality in line with the methodology. Your assessments will detail the effectiveness of controls and provide assurance that our suppliers are meeting the requirements set out in the contract and NBS supplier policy. Where gaps are identified, you'll present recommendations for remediation and work with the business area to ensure the supplier progresses an action plan in a timely manner.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised, driven individual with an analytical mindset, who is conscious of the importance of controls, keen to develop across multiple risk categories, and confident engaging with stakeholders of all levels.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our office sites. This is anticipated to be quarterly in Swindon. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you'll be doingYou'll be undertaking controls testing primarily by facilitating sessions with the supplier SMEs to evidence the requirements set out in the central framework. There is also an element of desktop assessment where evidence has been shared outside of those sessions. The framework covers a broad set of risk categories tested on a risk-based approach, which include Information Security, Business Continuity, IT, HR, Data Governance, Fraud, Financial Crime, Payments, Complaints, Subcontractor, ESG, Member Protection and Conflicts of Interest.
You'll maintain robust documentation which clearly articulates the judgement, rationale and supporting evidence to support the drafting of control testing issues and reports.
You will share reporting outputs with the internal supplier relationship manager and relevant risk functions, ensuring an action plan is put in place to address areas requiring remediation and that these are seen through to completion.
Extensive on the job training will complement your existing experience and give you the knowledge and skills you need to be able to thrive in the role. The varied nature of testing is supported by an ongoing Route to Competency.
We are an inquisitive team who drive continuous improvement at pace, and you'll have opportunity to shape and evolve the way we do things to deliver ultimate value for the Society.
About youAs a minimum requirement you'll have
- Experience in one or more risk categories in the framework
- Experience in control testing or sound understanding of control testing principles and methodologies
- Able to support the production of high-quality outputs that provide clear insight
- A confident communicator with experience building effective relationships and stakeholder management
- Self-motivated, with an ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Time management and organisational skills with a drive to achieve goals and in achieving the required standards to challenge for continuous improvement
