Operations Team Manager

Job Description
We're looking for a brilliant Team Manager to join our Operations Team.
The best thing about this role is the opportunity you'll have to coach and develop individuals to deliver work that directly underpins great client outcomes. Supporting a team of 10–15, you'll have the chance to make a real impact, by helping colleagues grow in their roles, while ensuring our processes run seamlessly , accurately and to the highest standards.
We'll be relying on you to lead with energy and focus, making sure operational activities are carried out accurately, efficiently and within the frameworks that keep us compliant. You'll also play a key role in spotting opportunities to improve what we do, driving continuous improvement and shaping how we deliver in the future.
This isn't your typical team manager role—we're looking for someone who will empower their team, build strong relationships across the business, and take pride in finding smarter ways of working. No two days will be the same, and you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects alongside your core leadership responsibilities.
You'll spend your time:
- Coaching and developing your team to help them succeed
- Driving consistency, quality and efficiency across operational processes
- Collaborating with colleagues across the business to deliver joined-up service
- Monitoring performance against service standards and addressing issues proactively
- Contributing to initiatives to improve how we work, from process improvements to system changes
- Problem solving in real time and supporting the team through complex challenges
- Working with other Team Managers to ensure consistent standards and share best practice
- Supporting wider business initiatives that depend on strong operational delivery
A bit about you
Your friends would probably describe you as resilient, adaptable and someone who enjoys bringing people with you through change. You'll thrive when leading a team, keeping people motivated and focused on delivering great results. You're comfortable juggling multiple priorities and see variety as a chance to grow, not a burden.
You enjoy being part of a collaborative culture where you can influence, improve and make things happen—without ever feeling left on your own. You like working with smart, driven people and you're always looking for a better way of doing things, even if it takes time to achieve.
To thrive in this role, we'd really like you to have:
- Experience of leading a team in an operational or process-driven environment
- A track record of improving service or efficiency within a fast-paced setting, ideally in financial services
Strong communication skills - able to explain, influence and motivate clearly
A collaborative approach, with experience of working across teams to deliver results
- An eye for detail and a passion for doing things right first time
- A drive to deliver good customer outcomes through the quality of the work your team produces
A little about us
We are the Nucleus Financial Platforms group and we help make retirement more rewarding. Here at Nucleus, people come first - whether it's our colleagues, or the advisers and customers we support, we know that working in partnership and collaboration leads to the best outcomes. Together, we've shaped the platform to how it is today. We work hard, and we celebrate hard too.
Our ambition is to create a platform with a difference, putting the customer centre stage meant tearing up the rule book and starting from scratch. We've come a long way since then, but our mission remains just as focused. That's why our culture, values, and social responsibility are things we keep at the top of our agenda – because we know they matter and have a big impact.
Our culture is one of the many things that sets us apart from the pack. We want to have an environment where our people feel that they can make a real difference, know they'll be rewarded for their efforts and more importantly, enjoy themselves at work.
Are we a perfect match? Check out this video and find out
Inclusion and diversity at Nucleus
As with most things in life, who cares, wins. We really care about inclusion.
For us it's not a tick box exercise; inclusion and diversity are embedded in our culture and everything we do. It's a commercial imperative. It isn't about being PC. It's about being future-relevant and durable. We owe it to ourselves and the industry to ensure we are playing our part in creating a fair, balanced and transparent financial services sector.
More diversity means broader experience, a wider set of perspectives and a better collective ability to problem-solve. And it means being more representative of customer groups, which supports areas such as product development.
At Nucleus, we offer a generous blend of benefits for the things that really matter to our people, including a non-contributory pension, bonus, enhanced parental leave, paid time off for emergencies, health and wellbeing initiatives and flexible working options.
If you'd like to find out more about us or the role, please get in touch with Hannah McCreadie in our People team.
