Opportunity for Hybrid working

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual who is confident in managing a portfolio of small trusts and foundations and would like to gain experience working on major trust and grant applications.

We are looking for an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser to join our team. This role will be a key part of our fundraising team, managing a portfolio of trust and foundations with the capacity to give up to £25,000 and the opportunity to assist with major grant funding bids which will enable us to drive forward our ambitious goals.

You will deliver high quality written applications and reports in line with funder deadlines and keep in touch with donors and prospects via phone, virtually and in face-to-meetings and visits. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Ability to manage tasks from start to finish and prioritise work to meet set deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to think creatively to generate income in line with our strategy.

Trusts and Grants Officer

To provide great supporter care and record keeping, and key support to the fundraising team, to maximise engagement and income from supporters of Somerset Wildlife Trust.

Key responsibilities and tasks to meet the fundraising strategic targets:

Responsibility 1: Supporter care

  • Be the first point of contact for the majority of our supporters and offer first-class stewardship to ensure our members, donors and fundraisers feel well-supported.
  • Maintain the highest standards of supporter care, including when responding to enquiries, judging when to involve other fundraisers to maximise potential support and income.

Responsibility 2: CRM (Raiser's Edge) & Systems

  • Provide efficient data entry and administration, including for membership, fundraising appeals, community fundraising and events, processing all donations, including credit card payments, cheques and BACS accurately and acknowledging donations in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records on the Trust's supporter database (Raiser's Edge), including by uploading new memberships, donations and event attendees and updating records.
  • Work with other team members to manage the recording of fundraising activity and income to help them become confident users.
  • Produce electronic member retention letters and work with the Database Officer make other improvements to processes to maximise effective use of Raiser's Edge.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and improvement of Raiser's Edge and in the support of other teams using the system.
  • Support Fundraising colleagues with other systems used in the day to work of the team.

Responsibility 3: Team administration

  • Be able to manage multiple tasks and requirements whilst demonstrating excellent time management.
  • Demonstrate good problem-solving skills and be able to work independently to deal with most enquiries and issues arising during the day.
  • Provide administrative support for the Fundraising team.
  • Identify and propose improvements that can be made to internal processes to help make the team more efficient.
  • Support with member events, including the AGM.
