We are looking for a proactive Building Services Officer to ensure our building runs safely, smoothly and efficiently. As the first point of escalation for building issues, you will oversee compliance, health & safety, and fire safety, while keeping operations on track and supporting a safe, welcoming environment for all.

Every day will bring variety, from managing visitors, contractors and audits to working closely with senior leaders and building users. You will be the trusted expert who ensures statutory standards are met, risks are minimised, and stakeholders are supported.

Office attendance:

You will be working within a Secure Building and expected to be in the office Monday – Friday.

The Post Holder will require Developed Vetting (DV).

There will be a requirement for the building to be manned from 7am – 7pm, Monday – Friday. Therefore, there will be a requirement to work a shift to ensure the building is covered once the building in operational.

Job description

The Post Holder is responsible for day-to-day smooth running of the Building, all staff operating within and ensuring the safety of those operating within it. The individual will be the first point of contact for any non-operational issues e.g. building access, Building facilities activity, visitors, security and health, safety & fire safety.

Main Key tasks:

  • Act as first point of contact and escalation for building and facilities issues.
  • Ensure statutory compliance across facilities, health & safety, and fire safety, under guidance from the Facilities Management team.
  • Oversee contractor management, audits, and inspections.
  • Support senior leadership with building operations and risk management
  • Maintain a safe, efficient and welcoming environment for staff, visitors and partners.

Person specification

  • Proven experience in managing building operations, facilities, or estates in a high-profile or complex environment.
  • Track record of managing contractors and service providers effectively
  • Sound understanding of health, safety and fire regulations, IOSH/ NEBOSH qualification.
  • Familiar with basic MOD security procedures and practices
  • Reliable, professional and resilient, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Proactive and solution-focused with strong attention to detail.
