Role Overview
As a Project Manager within our Programme and Project Management team, you will play a key role in delivering strategic, customer-facing, and internal improvement projects across the business. Based at our Oswestry office, you will work in a fast-paced environment, managing projects across multiple work streams and collaborating with customers and colleagues in the UK and the US.
This role requires a proactive, adaptable individual with a strong customer focus and the ability to balance scope, schedule, budget, and quality. You will also mentor junior project team members, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and manage projects from initiation through to completion, including internal initiatives, customer delivery projects, and cross-functional business transformation work.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define scope, goals, and deliverables aligned to business strategy.
- Work closely with customers to understand requirements and translate them into actionable project outputs, delivering a world-class customer experience.
- Create detailed project plans including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and critical path mapping.
- Coordinate internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure flawless execution.
- Monitor and report on progress, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and on-scope project delivery. Provide weekly and monthly status reporting to executive stakeholders and attend project review meetings.
- Manage project changes using established governance processes.
- Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
- Identify and escalate risks or issues as required, while proactively driving solutions.
- Lead on risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, partners, and customers.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including lessons learned.
- Mentor and coach junior project managers, fostering a culture of leadership, customer-first thinking, and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years' proven experience as a Project Manager or in a similar role within IT, telecoms, or fibre networks.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools, with a recognised qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently at both executive and operational levels.
- Demonstrable leadership qualities and team coordination skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across varied business functions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a forward-thinking and proactive approach.
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing vendors and third-party suppliers.
- Evidence of delivering projects within scope, time, budget, and quality constraints.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Qualifications in IT, ITIL, or fibre networking (optical, routing, switching).
- Experience delivering large-scale network or infrastructure projects across multiple sites.
- Background in high-growth or fast-paced operational environments.
- Experience contributing to or developing organisational frameworks, policies, or processes.
