We're looking for a Support Worker at Green Pastures Derby — our 24/7 supported living home for up to 28 men making a fresh start in life. You'll be part of a small, dedicated team helping to keep the building running safely and smoothly, supporting residents in their day-to-day lives, and occasionally stepping in for the Manager when needed.

Job Title: Support Worker

Where: GP Derby (DE23 8EA)

Hours: Full-time (including weekend hours) Part-time considered

Wage: £12.60 per hour

Contract: Permanent (with 6-month probation)

Start Date: Immediate

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • To ensure the health, safety, security and operational ability of the building and its residents.
  • To work effectively as part of a team to achieve this and deputise for the Manager.
  • Helping to maintain a positive and vibrant Christian culture

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Rent collection, Accounting and arrears recovery

  • Where required collect, record and issue receipts for service charges.
  • Monitor payment of rent and service charges.Fill in housing benefit forms and relevant tenancy forms for new residents.
  • Provide general advice to occupants regarding benefit entitlement.
  • Work with residents to ensure prompt payment of rent and minimise the risk of arrears.

Responsive, major and cyclical repairs

  • Inspection of property and reporting/actioning of day-to-day repairs to Manager.
  • Ensure agreed repairs and maintenance are carried out promptly and to a high standard

Estate management

  • Ensure that the house and surrounding area is maintained to the highest standards.
  • Ensure that electrical equipment is regularly serviced, tested and complies with health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure the property is maintained in a secure condition, conducting regular checks on the property and undertaking and securing outside door

Occupancy management

  • Ensure occupants understand their occupancy agreement, their rights and obligations and comply with the terms of their occupancy.
  • Ensure all breaches of the occupancy are investigated and appropriate action taken.
  • Assist with the decision making, administration and maintenance of occupancy agreements providing information and advice on issues as they arise

Occupancy participation

  • Consult with occupants and actively advance occupants meetings, encouraging participation in decision making processes that affect the running of the property.
  • Encourage and assist occupant participation, consultation and ensure they play a part in the smooth running of the property.
  • Lead morning devotions with residents.

Tenancy Support

  • To provide support to residents as appropriate by: Spending time with residents in structured one to one sessions assessing, reviewing and reporting the progress made.
  • Providing the Manager with a fortnightly review of all pastoral caretaking place in the hostel and suggesting improvements, and offering professional development for staff.
  • Assisting residents with daily tasks, emotional support and accessing community resources.

ABOUT YOU

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills are expected, and GCSEs in English and Maths, or equivalents, are preferred.
  • An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Level 3 in Health and Social Care preferred.
  • Experience in social care or related fields is beneficial, as is a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Christian Faith

A successful candidate will participate and contribute to the spirituality of Green Pastures. For this reason, it is an occupational requirement that the successful applicant is a practicing Christian (Equalities Act 2010).
