About the Role
We're looking for an experienced PBS Specialist – Behaviour Analyst to support individuals who display high-risk behaviours of concern. You'll bring enthusiasm, commitment, and proven PBS experience to help people with complex needs achieve positive outcomes.
You'll promote ethical, evidence-based PBS practice, always placing wellbeing and quality of life at the heart of your work. To support you, we provide external clinical supervision from experienced PBS clinicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach and support PBS Practitioners to deliver effective and ethical PBS.
- Build confidence, reflection, and best practice through guidance and mentoring.
- Work with the Head of PBS to implement PBS policies, systems, and processes.
- Manage a caseload of individuals with high-risk behaviours of concern.
- Complete Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) with people you support, their teams, and families.
- Develop and review Positive Behaviour Support plans using evidence-based practice and active involvement from individuals and staff.
- Share assessment outcomes clearly and sensitively to promote understanding and consistency.
- Coach teams in implementing PBS plans using Behavioural Skills Training (BST).
- Record, monitor, and analyse behavioural data to evidence positive outcomes.
- Deliver and contribute to PBS training for staff and families.
- Lead or contribute to person-centred planning, promoting wellbeing, independence, and inclusion.
- Contribute to shared risk assessments, encouraging safe community engagement.
- Support transitions for individuals with complex needs and stay up to date with PBS best practice.
- Uphold and promote company values, policies, and procedures.
- Support recruitment and induction within the PBS team.
- Contribute to service improvement, policy development, and new initiatives.
Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
- MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis and/or Positive Behaviour Support / Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, or equivalent
- UKBA (Cert) and current UKSBA membership
Experience (Essential)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a PBS role
- Clinical experience supporting people with complex needs and high-risk behaviours
- Experience managing a clinical caseload of complex individuals
- Strong assessment and intervention development skills
- Development, implementation, and evaluation of PBS plans
- Experience supporting individuals with communication difficulties
- Experience training and coaching others
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information and complex situations
- Strong time-management and organisational skills
- Sound judgement and decision-making in complex cases
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies and best practice
- Confident IT and data-recording skills
Other Information
This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
