Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support with student arrival to the centre, ensuring they sign in, have their badges on and get to class on time
  • Be a Deputy Designated safeguarding lead officer (DDSL)
  • Ensure the learner has a voice, coordinating the running of the student Council programme and lead on gathering regular student feedback
  • Chase up any non-attenders by 10:15 am by contacting the students, if unsuccessful contact the parent/carer – update the registers and contact logs
  • Support with the induction of all new starters and set out expectations on their induction week
  • Build up relationships with parents and or carers of the students to keep them engaged and updated
  • Hold a caseload of safeguarding incidents and follow the process to investigate and action cases
  • Ensure the tutors have open lines of communication available throughout the day
  • Support the planning of events and key dates and promote these by producing a termly newsletter and through social media
  • Support the behavioural management of students, supporting tutors while in class, diffuse any potential situations between students
  • Call and update parents when needed
  • Appropriately communicate and build a rapport with the students of different functioning levels.
  • Implement strategies to create a calm environment for the wellbeing of the individual students
  • Work in an engaging and enabling way to support students to maximise their independence
  • Create a culture of positive expectations from learners
  • Meet with students/parents with poor attendance to identify any barriers to engagement and advise and assist them in accessing relevant support.
  • Work with the team and support when and where is needed to cover staff breaks
  • Lead on the setup and attendance of meetings with third party organisations to include virtual schools and PEP meeting for looked after children.
  • Act as an additional point of contact, via email, phone, Teams and in person, for students seeking support for pastoral issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all student interactions in accordance with internal guidance and protocols in compliance with GDPR.
  • Support the SENCO with EHCP Annual reviews and the Coordinators with PCP reviews

Hours: 36.5 hours per week

Salary: £20, £21, £23, £25,200 FTE) per annum

This is a Term Time only position working 39 weeks per year
