Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom Wordsmith AI Full time

Role - Product Designer

Location - Edinburgh OR London (Hybrid - Min 3 days in office)

At Wordsmith AI, our mission is to transform the way legal teams work. We're building the next generation of AI-powered tools that free lawyers from repetitive tasks, surface critical insights, and help businesses move faster without compromising on risk.

It's a bold, ambitious challenge that requires us to operate at our very best every day. We're not just updating old workflows - we're reimagining how legal practice and business operations come together in an AI-first world.

The pace here is intense and the opportunity is huge. Joining now means shaping the foundations of a category-defining company, having outsized impact, and growing alongside some of the best in the industry.

To do this, we're looking for someone who is deeply motivated by impact. Someone who thrives in complex problem spaces, relishes the chance to work alongside exceptional colleagues, and actively seeks feedback to keep raising the bar. Someone who runs towards, not away from, the toughest design challenges.

Our culture is fast-paced, ambitious, and not for everyone. But if you want to help shape the future of legal technology, alongside a team that values craft, curiosity, and collaboration - there's no better place to be.

We value in-person connection and collaboration - as a hybrid company based in Edinburgh and London, we ask our team to be in their local office a minimum of three days a week.

What you'll be doing
  • Contributing to the overall direction and decision making for product and design strategy for Wordsmith's platform

  • Owning the end-to-end user journey: from research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and shipping

  • Designing intuitive web and mobile experiences that simplify complex workflows

  • Collaborating with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional peers to execute the roadmap

  • Bringing clarity to ambiguous problem spaces through strong product thinking and design craft

  • Participating in design critiques - both giving and receiving feedback to sharpen the work

What we look for in you
  • 5+ years of Product Design experience

  • Strong product thinking skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into simple solutions

  • Proven track record of shipping successful products as part of a cross-functional product team

  • Mastery of visual design, interaction design, and prototyping (Figma fluency is a must)

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment

  • Collaborative, low ego, and open-minded - you care as much about the team's success as your own

  • Experience using AI tools to speed up workflows, explore concepts, or build rapid prototypes

Nice to have
  • Familiarity with creating, maintaining, and scaling design systems

  • Experience with animation and illustration

What you can expect
  • A high-trust environment with meaningful ownership over what you design

  • Real-world product challenges - security, performance, usability - at the heart of legal workflows

  • A tight-knit team of engineers, designers, legal minds, and builders

  • Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and the opportunity to shape an early product and team

At Wordsmith AI, you'll have the chance to build category-defining tools that change the way an entire industry works. If you want your design work to have real-world impact at scale, we'd love to hear from you.
