The Growth Company (GC) Education and Skills team is seeking a dedicated Key Worker to support a caseload of learners aged 16–19. This role involves providing tailored guidance and assistance to ensure successful learner recruitment, sustained engagement throughout the programme, achievement of educational goals, and progression into further education, training, or employment.

Please note that this role will be based at the Trafford Park Skills centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage learners on Study Programmes through mentoring, advocacy, and tailored employability interventions to ensure progress and positive outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with young people, promoting the benefits of The Skills Company and encouraging commitment to the programme.
  • Deliver group and one-to-one sessions, including assessments, inductions, action plans, and activities that address individual learning and employment needs.
  • Coordinate training, work experience, and social activities, while monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records of learner interactions.
  • Provide career guidance and employability support, helping learners explore options, plan actions, and access relevant resources including CEIAG.
  • Conduct monthly reviews, tracking attendance and behaviour, and implementing improvement plans where necessary.
  • Promote services through networking and marketing and deliver enrichment activities and work tasters to enhance learner experience.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including reporting, data analysis, service evaluation, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety policies.

  • Warm, empathetic, and approachable, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships that support young people's learning and progression into sustained employment.
  • Effective communicator and motivator, capable of engaging both young people and employers while fostering productive working relationships.
  • Adaptable and flexible, willing to hot-desk, travel locally, work outside standard hours, and operate within community settings to meet learner needs.
  • Understands the challenges faced by individuals with multiple barriers to employment and progression, and responds with informed, supportive strategies.
  • Knowledgeable about support services for individuals with complex needs, including those related to housing, debt, substance misuse, and mental health.

Skills Required:

  • Willing to work towards Level 4 qualification in Advice and Guidance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a target-driven environment, focused on achieving learner outcomes and progression into further education or employment.
  • Strong guidance and facilitation skills, capable of delivering impactful one-to-one and group sessions to at least Grade 2 standard.
  • Collaborative approach to service delivery, working seamlessly with professionals and external services to support the learner journey.
  • Experience in job-matching and employment placement, supporting individuals into suitable and sustained roles.
  • Skilled in providing tailored guidance, advice, and counselling, including specialist and pastoral support for learners.
  • Background in advice and guidance environments, with hands-on experience supporting individuals through personal and professional development.
