Interim Assistant Contract Manager – 12 month fixed contract

Salary

As an Interim Assistant Contract Manager at FCC Environment, you will support the Senior Contract Manager with the day-to-day delivery of waste and recycling collection services. You will be expected to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contract requirements, while supporting staff, engaging with clients, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting the Senior Contract Manager in the management and delivery of waste and recycling services.

  • Assisting with the day-to-day management of staff, vehicles, and equipment to ensure services are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with contract specifications.

  • Acting as a point of contact for clients and stakeholders, maintaining positive relationships and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Monitoring service performance, gathering and analysing data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Supporting the delivery of service changes, operational improvements, and environmental initiatives.

  • Helping to ensure health and safety compliance across all services, fostering a robust safety culture.

  • Supporting workforce engagement, including staff training, welfare, attendance management, and recruitment where required.

  • Assisting with contract reporting, financial monitoring, and KPI delivery.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who can bring strong organisational and people management skills, together with experience in waste and recycling or service contract delivery. You should have:

  • Proven experience in managing or supporting operational teams within a service contract environment.

  • Knowledge of the environmental services industry and current legislation.

  • Good understanding of health and safety practices, ideally supported by IOSH or an equivalent qualification.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage staff, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Experience in monitoring KPIs, analysing service data, and identifying performance improvements.

  • IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and experience with management systems.

  • A positive, motivated attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A full UK driving licence.
