Role profile

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our growing HR team as an HR Business Partner (HRBP) on a permanent basis. We're looking for an individual with proven experience as an HR Business Partner and a strong background in strategic business partnering.

In this role as HRBP, you'll work in close partnership with our business services leaders to ensure departments implement their strategic people plan and manage their people in a way that meets the current and future needs of the business. Our team is on a very exciting journey at the moment, working on lots of interesting strategic priorities and transformation projects.

This position will be based in our Bristol or London office, with the flexibility to embrace hybrid working and some travel between our UK offices as required, and will manage an HR Advisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Operations Board stakeholders, you will provide strategic input to their business plans as we look to grow and strengthen our operations using tools such as strategic workforce planning
  • In partnership with Chiefs and Heads of Department, you will support the department's people plan and influence and contribute to change projects across the business areas
  • You'll use data driven insights to influence decision making and measure impact in terms of business outcomes. You'll use your extensive HR knowledge to bring an external perspective to our HR offering
  • Your focus is on improving the performance of the functions through its people and acting on HR initiatives aligned to the overall OC strategy working with colleagues in People Development to ensure management capabilities are being developed
  • You'll oversee talent management and succession planning for your business areas, focusing on retention of key internal talent and working with recruitment to market map future positions
  • You'll ensure diversity and inclusion (D&I) is a central part of the department's people plan and that business leaders look at decisions through a D&I lens
  • You'll advise on organisational design as needed, keeping this regularly under review and using insight to influence decision making about people, promotions and recruitment throughout the year and during the budgeting process
  • You'll support business leaders to continually monitor and improve employee engagement and wellbeing, ensuring feedback is listened to and acted upon so that our culture remains a competitive advantage
  • You will take the lead on complex or sensitive employee relations matters as required, serving as an escalation point for the HR Advisor on less complex cases and generally supervising the HR Advisor's workload
  • You may lead on HR function strategic projects for the development of the overall Core HR team
  • You'll influence reward decisions in Business Services and Business Support, driving fairness and consistency, and take the lead on annual pay review and bonus nominations
  • You'll coach the HR Business Services team to build their capability while also acting as an escalation point for the HR Advisor as necessary

What We're Looking For
A driven, strategic HR Business Partner with proven experience in a professional services environment.

Also Required

  • Proven ability to demonstrate confidence in engaging with a senior client group to help them drive their business forward with pragmatic, solution-focused, commercial advice
  • Ability to think and act strategically, well versed in OC's strategy to inform big picture implications
  • Ability to forge strong trusted professional working relationships with internal clients
  • Demonstrably strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, with the confidence to interact with people at all levels
  • Professional and flexible in approach, able to adapt to changing requirements and circumstances
  • Ability to manage expectations amongst internal clients whilst maintaining credibility and professionalism
  • Custodian of the OC culture
