Overview
Amicus Health is expanding INTO community pharmacy services, and we are seeking a dedicated Community Pharmacy Dispenser to join the friendly team at Bampton Pharmacy. This is an excellent opportunity for either a qualified dispenser or someone looking to train, offering hands-on involvement in the safe dispensing of medicines, patient support, and delivery of pharmacy services such as EPS and blister pack preparation.
You will be part of an integrated primary care environment, working closely with pharmacists, technicians and practice staff in a supportive and forward-thinking organisation. Key Responsibilities
1. Dispensing & Medicines Supply
- Accurately receive, assemble and label NHS and private prescriptions in line with legal, professional and organisational standards.
- Prepare blister packs/compliance aids (e.g., dosette trays) following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation requirements.
- Ensure patient medication records (PMRs) are updated accurately, including endorsements and reimbursement notes.
- Prioritise urgent prescriptions and support timely completion of all dispensing tasks.
- Assist in safe handling and storage of medicines, including CD supervision and fridge line management.
2. Patient Interaction & Counter Services
- Provide a friendly, professional counter service to patients and customers.
- Recommend appropriate over-the-counter products and self-care advice within scope of practice.
- Recognise when to refer patients to the pharmacist for clinical assessment or advice.
- Promote awareness of available pharmacy services (Pharmacy First, NMS, EPS, digital collection tools).
3. Supporting Pharmacy Services
- Support the setup and efficient delivery of services such as Pharmacy First, NMS, vaccinations, EPS and health promotion campaigns.
- Prepare service documentation, forms, materials and digital entries as needed.
- Contribute to smooth workflow between clinical and dispensing activities.
4. Stock Management
- Assist in ordering medicines and consumables, receiving deliveries and checking for accuracy.
- Rotate stock, identify short-dated items and process returns safely.
- Maintain a tidy, organised dispensary and retail stock area.
- Ensure safe storage procedures are followed in accordance with SOPs and governance requirements.
5. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Follow all SOPs, medicines-handling policies, infection control guidance and health & safety requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards at all times.
- Contribute to error reduction, incident reporting and quality improvement processes.
- Help maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment.
6. Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with the pharmacy team and the wider practice staff.
- Support induction and training of new starters or trainee dispensers as appropriate.
- Share information clearly and help ensure smooth workflow throughout the day.
- Contribute positively to a supportive, inclusive and professional team culture.
Personal Development

- Support to gain or complete the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (if not already held).

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or willingness to undertake this training as a trainee dispenser).
Experience
Essential:
- Experience in a community pharmacy, dispensary or medicines-handling environment (employment or placement).
Desirable:
- Experience using PMR systems and working with EPS.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment.
- Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and safe medicines handling.
- Ability to follow SOPs and manage workload effectively.

- Willingness to work across Amicus Health pharmacy sites if required.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
