ApplyLocation: Pontypool, Torfaen, United KingdomEarnings: £ to £ 0 ]">Hours:Average 23.5 per week on a 4 week rolling rota (including bank holidays and weekends)Working Pattern: Overnight shifts are sleep in shifts from 11pmWeek 1 - Thursday am, Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 10am – 6 pmWeek 2 - Monday am, Friday 17:45-5.15amWeek 3 - Tuesday am, Saturday amWeek 4 - Wednesday am, Sunday amStaff are offered the opportunity to undertake additional shifts to cover absences.Mandatory attendance at supervision, team meetings and training outside of normal hours are paid.All staff must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of the clients and organisationPurpose of the post:To support the delivery of specialist support to women and children living within Gwent who are affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) in primarily our accommodation services.Specific ResponsibilitiesTo be responsible for delivering specialist Domestic Abuse support services to women and children in refuges.Engage the women and children in activities during the eveningProvide the women and children emotional supportCarry out risk assessments and initial needs assessments to determine what level of service is appropriate.Ensure that services are available for and meet the needs of minority women.Admit new residents into refuge and completion of relevant paperwork.Ensure that accurate paper and electronic records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the serviceSupport clients to access health, legal and housing services.Support clients to maintain licence agreement and help them prepare for independent living.To be fully aware of the child and adult protection policy and procedures and report to line manager any concerns in this area.To act as an advocate on behalf of clients encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate.Encourage clients to participate in all areas of their service provision and communal livingWork alongside colleagues to ensure the smooth running of all our support services.Premises and Housing ManagementTo work jointly with the Refuge Team Leader to ensure the safe and effective management of our refuges.To take part in housing management tasks as required i.e., room cleaning and preparation, managing breaches of licence and reporting any maintenance issues.Facilitate house meetings in refuge as required.To adhere to health and safety policy and report any risks/concerns to the Refuge Team Leader, taking immediate steps where necessary to protect health and wellbeing of residents, team members and members of the public.General ResponsibilitiesTo demonstrate and promote the organisation's ethos of trauma informed, person centred support, informed choice, and its vision and values.To proactively implement policies for anti-discriminatory practice and equality of opportunityTo represent the organisation at external meetings, public events, conferences and similar ensuring that Torfaen Women's Aid reputation is protected and enhanced.To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women and children affected by VAWDASV.Participate in team meetings, supervision and appropriate training.To work within the organisations Policies and Procedures at all times.Any other reasonable duties as required.It may be necessary, following consultation, to amend the job description in light of experience and changing circumstancesA current, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this role.Closing Date: 4th December 2025We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive sufficient applications or identify a suitable candidate prior to the closing date.Due to the nature of these roles, they are only open tofemale applicants(Exempt under the Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1).
