We are now looking for an experienced, committed Deputy Manager - Qualified Mental Health Nurse to join our dedicated team in Preston, Lancashire.
Our current provision in Preston is a 3-bedroom residential home which provides specialised care to children who suffer with poor mental health and who require a non-institutionalised placement to provide the care they need.
The team will comprise of a Manager, a Deputy Manager, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Team Leaders and Residential Support staff who together will provide a package of care to every child living in the home which considers all aspects of their wellbeing and individual needs to enable them to achieve positive outcomes.

What You'll Do
As a Deputy Manager, you'll take the lead in providing a warm, stable, safe and therapeutic home environment for our young people. You'll support the team day-to-day, acting as a role model and guide to ensure that every child feels safe, respected and supported to thrive.
Your key responsibilities include:
To provide emergency First Aid where a child may have injured/harmed themselves
To complete physical observations of children
To administer medication
To complete enhanced observations/supervision of children where required to maintain their safety
Additional responsibilities include:
- Building strong, trusting relationships with young people
- Creating an inclusive, non-discriminatory environment where all children feel seen and valued
- Using trauma-informed and PACE-based approaches in daily care
- Acting as a Key Worker for individual young people, helping them achieve their care plan goals
- Supporting educational, emotional and social development
- Advocating for the voices and rights of each young person
- Helping prepare young people for adulthood through life skills and resilience-building
- Providing safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all children in our care
Leadership Responsibilities
As a Deputy Manager, you'll also:
- Lead shifts and provide on-the-ground supervision
- Mentor, guide and support Residential Support Workers and Team Leaders
- Model excellent practice in care and communication
- Assist in training and induction of new staff
- Ensure quality record-keeping, report writing and care planning
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, positive and well-run home
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualification – Bachelor of Science (BSc) (Hons) Mental Health Nursing or Master of Science (MSc) Mental Health Nursing
Essential Experience - 2 years post qualifying experience working within a mental health setting or in a residential setting supporting adults/children with complex/mental health needs.

- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding and children's home regulations (Children's Homes Regulations 2015 & Quality Standards)
