Role Description
This is a volunteer Trustee role based on-site in St Helens. Trustees are responsible for providing strategic direction, governance, and oversight to ensure the organisation's values and goals are achieved. Day-to-day tasks include attending board meetings, contributing to decision-making, overseeing financial stability, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. Trustees partner with other board members and staff to guide the organisation's vision and long-term strategy while monitoring its impact on the community.
Beneficial experience
- No previous experience as a Trustee is required
- Leadership, governance, and strategic planning skills
- Knowledge in financial oversight, budget management, or funding
- Understanding of legal, ethical, and compliance matters
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in non-profits, youth services, or community engagement is beneficial
- Commitment to the mission and values of YMCA St Helens
- Knowledge or experience in safeguarding and diversity is a plus
