Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00

Who we are

We specialise in transporting the unusual—from oversized loads and road closures to complex routing with full police and escort support. Our expert team handles every legal, insurance, and health & safety detail, including comprehensive method statements, risk assessments, and lifting plans.

We regularly move everything from aircraft components and robotic machinery to fully grown trees, production equipment, and even museum exhibits using anything from our 8t box vehicle, extendable low loaders and hiab crane vehicles.

Why this role matters

With every movement and projects, it takes much planning and as Operations Assistant you'll be the support system in piecing it altogether. Working to tight deadlines and ensuring that all paperwork is in place and compliant.

What you'll do

  • Taking the calls and asking those important questions ready to be turned into quotations.
  • Booking in site surveys, traffic permits and wide load movements.
  • Produce the necessary paperwork for the drivers for the following day, to include method statements and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with customers, authorities and Welch in-house crane operators/drivers and other depots.
  • Taking control of the lifting equipment

The skills & experience you'll bring

  • Knowledge of working within traffic office and dealing with mobile cranes.
  • Working knowledge of STGO regs, VR1/VR2 escorts and permit portals
  • Confident reading crane/load charts
  • Calm problem-solver with sharp attention to safety detail
  • Strong communicator— on site and with our customers.
  • IT-literate (TMS, Excel, online permit systems)
  • Knowledge of LOLER regulations
