Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, and home care environments. The role involves supporting patients with a range of needs, from daily activities to specialised medical care, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Previous experience in care, dementia or Alzheimer's care, hospice care, or child care is highly desirable. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through attentive and respectful support.
Duties
- Assist residents and clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Provide specialised patient care including medication administration and behaviour management
- Support individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's through tailored engagement and companionship
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements and assist with feeding as needed
- Administer first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies
- Drive clients to appointments or outings safely using company vehicles
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Support families and caregivers by providing respite care and emotional support
- Document care provided accurately in compliance with organisational policies
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home care environments is preferred
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, and senior care best practices
- Relevant certifications such as first aid are advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required for mobility assistance or transfers
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting clients safely
- Strong communication skills with a caring and empathetic nature
- Ability to manage behaviour effectively and respond calmly in challenging situations
- Basic meal preparation skills and understanding of medication administration protocols
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to health and safety standards
