The Digital Forensics Unit (DFU) within EISS provide comprehensive digital evidence services to Enforcement and Market Oversight providing strategic forensic investigative techniques for the acquisition, preservation, recovery and presentation of digital evidence.
The Forensic Science Regulator Act Code of Practice requires the regulation of forensic science activity (FSA), undertaken as part of criminal proceedings, to operate effective quality management process and procedures, meeting the requirements of the code. Compliance is demonstrated by having accreditation to ISO/IEC The Quality Management Team manage this accreditation process.
The Quality Management Team seeks support to implement a system meeting ISO/IEC 17025 standards for digital forensic evidence handling, ensuring compliance with the Forensic Science Regulator Act Code of Practice.
Role responsibilities:
Collaborating with the Quality Assurance and DFU Managers to design, implement and gain accreditation for a new case and quality management system
Promoting and implementing the application of quality standards aligned with ISO 17025 and the Forensic Science Regulator's Code of Practice
Creating and developing documentation including policies, procedures, training materials and work instructions
Delivering internal audits and assurance activities, identifying non-conformances and contributing to impact analysis and root cause investigations
Contributing to method development and validation exercises to ensure scientific robustness within the Digital Forensics Unit
Identifying and mitigating risks that could lead to inaccurate or misleading results affecting the Criminal Justice System
Aiding in the preparation of documentation and submissions for UKAS assessments and external visits
Gaining valuable experience in shaping procedures and supporting compliance with the Forensic Science Regulator Act 2021 Code of Practice
Skills required:
Minimum:
Experience of conducting quality assurance exercises including internal and or external audits to maintain compliance with regulatory and operational standards
Experience of working within accredited environments such as digital forensics or other forensic science disciplines.
Experience of utilising technical expertise to draft and review standard operating procedures and work instructions aligned with quality management systems.
